Priorities
My priorities are your priorities:
affordable housing, safe streets and parks, and sustainable infrastructure.
Affordable Housing
Keeping our community together.
Too many of our friends, neighbors, and caregivers are being forced to move away due to skyrocketing housing costs. San Mateo County is at the center of the housing crisis, and we need balanced solutions so that the people who work here can afford to live here.
-
Support our workforce: Champion policies that help San Mateo build and manage affordable housing for our teachers, nurses, and service workers.
-
Cut the red tape: Streamline the permitting process, especially for homeowners who want to expand their homes or add ADUs for extended family.
-
Balanced growth: Ensure that as we bring new jobs to San Mateo, we are building the housing necessary to support them.

Safe Streets & Parks
Protecting our families and neighborhoods.
I believe local government’s top responsibility is keeping its community safe. I haven’t just talked about safety; I’ve delivered it. After three tragic pedestrian deaths, I founded Safe Streets for Everyone to organize our community in support of pedestrian and bicycle safety. When neighbors told me the Sunnybrae Park playground was falling into disrepair, I helped parents get an unsafe play structure replaced.
-
Safe routes for all: Prioritize "quick-build" infrastructure to calm traffic and increase safety immediately, while we work toward permanent improvements.
-
Smart accountability: Address dangerous speeding and stop-sign running through better street design and targeted enforcement in residential areas.
-
Proactive maintenance: Implement regular safety audits of our parks and playgrounds to fix issues before our children get hurt.
Sustainable Infrastructure
Preparing San Mateo for the future.
From wildfire smoke to stormwater flooding, San Mateans are already feeling the impacts of climate change. We must act now to adapt and lessen these impacts, creating a strong foundation of livability for our children and grandchildren.
-
Climate resilience: Ensure our streets, drainage systems, and new developments are built to withstand extreme weather.
-
Green transportation: Invest in public transit and safer bike networks to reduce traffic and pollution.
-
Energy transition: Help property owners upgrade to renewable energy sources, saving money and reducing our city’s carbon footprint.
