Since launching this campaign, the energy has been incredible. Whether we are discussing structural budget deficits, housing, or street safety, one thing is clear: San Mateans are ready for proactive, data-driven leadership.

Here is a look at what we’ve been up to over the last few weeks.

📋 Setting City Priorities at the "Blue Sky" Workshop

I spent Saturday, February 7th at the College of San Mateo for the annual Blue Sky Goal Setting workshop. This was my third time attending this crucial meeting where the City Council sets priorities for the upcoming year.

As a member of Move San Mateo and the founder of the Safe Streets for Everyone campaign, I was proud to help advocate for smart, actionable, and cost-effective solutions, including:

  • Targeted Traffic Enforcement: Doubling enforcement to create a credible deterrent against speeding and distracted driving.

  • No Right on Red Downtown: Implementing this policy in our downtown core and school zones to protect pedestrians.

  • Data-Focused Parking Management: Piloting residential parking benefit districts to return revenues to local neighborhoods.

  • Traffic Calming: Using community input and updated speed studies to quickly install speed humps and road diets in known hot spots.

These are exactly the kinds of data-driven, high-impact strategies I will champion on the City Council.

🏆 Celebrating Local Business

Small businesses are the heartbeat of our vibrant neighborhoods, and it was wonderful to attend the SMACC launch for the Best of San Mateo Area 2026. We sampled food from past winners and nominees – including the absolutely delicious mini-cinnamon rolls from local bakery Made out of Dough, who have endorsed our campaign!

🌉 Building Regional Coalitions at the State Convention

I recently attended the California Democratic Party Convention in San Francisco, serving in my second term as a delegate for Assembly District 21. Because our local challenges – like housing and transit – cross city lines, building strong relationships with state and regional leaders is essential.

A highlight of the weekend was the California YIMBY Governor candidate forum. It was quickly clear who has experience implementing practical solutions to tackle our housing crisis (or has done the research), and who has not. 😉

To top it off, I proudly co-hosted my first campaign party alongside San Mateo County Supervisor Noelia Corzo. We had an incredible turnout!

đŸ«±đŸ»â€đŸ«ČđŸœ Growing our Team

Our message of smart planning and proactive leadership is resonating. I am very proud to announce our first organizational endorsement from the Pro-Housing Democratic Caucus, making me their first endorsed candidate in San Mateo County!

We are also honored to welcome new endorsements from leaders who trust our vision:

  • State Assemblymember Matt Haney

  • State Assemblymember Alex Lee

  • San Mateo County Board of Education Trustee Hugo Torres

  • Campbell Mayor Sergio Lopez

🚀 By the Numbers

  • 1 organizational endorsement secured - more to come!

  • 51 coffee chats completed with elected officials, community leaders and neighbors.

  • 107 grassroots donors who have chipped in to power this campaign.

Thank you for your continued support. We are just getting started! If you haven't yet, forward these updates to a neighbor or friend. Also, please consider chipping in to help us keep this incredible momentum going!

Whether it’s $10 or $100, your contribution helps us print the flyers and signs we need to reach every voter in District 3.

Let’s move San Mateo forward, together!
