It has been two weeks since we launched this campaign, and I am blown away by the energy and support within our community. We hit the ground running, and we haven't stopped since!
From the Council chambers to the early morning streets, here is what weâve been up toâand why Iâm more optimistic than ever about San Mateoâs future.

â A Huge Win for Safe Streets (and Bike Lanes!)
On Monday night, I joined dozens of neighbors at City Council to support keeping the bike lanes on N. Humboldt Street. It was a powerful display of community and a demonstration of the power we all have to make our city safer for everyone. My husband and I spoke, but the real stars were the kidsâsome as young as eight!âand the eloquent teens from San Mateo High who stood up for their safety.Â
And it worked. The Council voted unanimously to keep the bike lanes, address parking with a new permit program, and commit to further safety improvements.
This is a major step forward. Our Safe Streets coalition showed that our neighborhoods are changing, active transportation is growing, and keeping kids safe around schools is a top priority for our community.
đ Showing Up at 5:00 AM
Leadership means showing up, even before the sun comes up. I recently joined the San Mateo County One Day Homeless Count, venturing out at 5 AM to help conduct the observational count that informs our countyâs funding and long-term solutions.
As a data-driven leader, I know we canât fix what we donât measure. Seeing the reality of our unhoused neighbors firsthand only deepens my commitment to compassionate, effective housing solutions.
đŁ Momentum is Building
We are building a coalition that spans the entire region. I am honored to announce that we have secured new endorsements from leaders who trust my vision for San Mateo, including:
State Senator Scott Wiener
SF City Attorney David Chiu
Mountain View Mayor Emily Ramos
Sunnyvale Vice Mayor Richard Mehlinger
Daly City Councilmember Juslyn Manalo
Portola Valley Town Councilmember Helen Wolter
đśđžââď¸ââĄď¸Justice for Veronica
While we celebrate policy wins, we remember why this work is so urgent. Following the tragic death of Veronica Vasquez on El Camino Real, we have been working hard to raise awareness and support her family. Thank you to everyone who contributed to their GoFundMe. We will keep fighting for "Quick Build" safety fixes so no other family has to endure this loss.
đ By the Numbers
65 "Safe Streets for Everyone" lawn signs distributed to neighbors (and counting!)
86 founding donors have already chipped in to power this campaign
We are closing in on our first 100 donors. Can you help us hit that milestone today?
Whether itâs $10 or $100, your contribution helps us print the flyers and signs we need to reach every voter in District 3.
Letâs move San Mateo forward, together!
